UPDATE: According to a Press of Atlantic City report, as of today, the search has not revealed a vessel or passengers, nor have any boaters been reported missing.

The U.S. Coast Guard continues to search for boaters who are reportedly missing in the Atlantic Ocean off Brigantine.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Section Delaware Bay in Philadelphia received a notification from the Brigantine Police Department around 5:45 p.m. yesterday.

Police alerted the Coast Guard to three to four people in the water from a capsized fishing boat about a half-mile off the coast, Chief Petty Officer Nick Ameen said in a release.

The Coast Guard dispatched a 47-foot motor lifeboat from Station Atlantic City, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Station Atlantic City, an HC-130 Hercules airplane from Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina and a 87-foot cutter from Portsmouth, Virginia.

Local and state authorities are assisting the Coast Guard, Ameen said.

Brigantine is located just north of Atlantic City.

Anyone with information about the boaters should contact Sector Delaware Bay at 215-271-4960.
