Coast Guard searching for fishing vessel off Jersey Shore

    The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a fishing vessel that transmitted a mayday call early Sunday afternoon.

    According to a release, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia received the mayday call over marine radio around 12:45 p.m. Sunday.

    The call from a crew member on the fishing vessel “Interlude” stated that the boat was taking on water and heading into port.

    The Coast Guard subsequently launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Atlantic City, the cutter Ibis, and multiple assets from Station Atlantic City. 

    The agency did not provide a search area location.
