City Controller report on rising costs at Philadelphia institutions

In 2001, health care costs associated with congestive heart failure at Hahnemann University Hospital were $21,056. In 2009, that number was $81,353.

A decade ago, tuition at La Salle University was $18,020. Now it’s more than $32,000.

 

The numbers are part of Philadelphia City Controller Alan Butkovitz’s monthly economic report comparing consumer cost increases in Philadelphia. The report looks at cost differences in the last decade at institutions like universities, hospitals and sporting venues.
