Christie visits Philly for Corbett fundraiser

Gov. Tom Corbett is heading to another fundraiser for the Republican Governors Association as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he intends to work hard to re-elect Corbett, despite the polls.

Protesters gathered outside the Comcast Center skyscraper in downtown Philadelphia ahead of the private Monday evening fundraiser. The fellow Republican governors also headlined a Pittsburgh fundraiser Friday.

Corbett is trailing badly in the polls to Democrat Tom Wolf and is relying heavily on the Republican Governors Association for campaign cash.

Christie, the association’s chairman, said he doesn’t determine who to support based on polls. He said  Corbett merits support based on his record.

The association is Corbett’s biggest campaign donor, already giving $1.8 million for his re-election campaign.

    The election is Nov. 4.
