Christie makes two state Supreme Court nominations

N.J. Gov. Chris Christie has made two nominations to the state Supreme Court, and they could fill the minority void the court has had since former Justices John Wallace and  Roberto Rivera-Soto left.

Christie has chosen Bruce Harris, the openly gay African American mayor of Chatham Borough; and Phil Kwon, assistant attorney general to the state’s highest court.

Harris and Kwan would replace Wallace and Justice Virgina Long. Wallace hasn’t been reappointed and Long faces mandatory retirement, as the Star-Ledger reports.
