Christie announces support for New Jersey sports betting

N.J. Gov. Chris Christie yesterday announced his support of legalized sports betting in the state, and has pledged to work with Democratic Sen. Ray Lesniak to make it happen.

Voters will decide in next week’s election whether they support the measure, and if so, it’ll be up to the state to overturn the federal regulation that bans sports betting in most states.

Lesniak has already filed an unsuccessful lawsuit to overturn the federal restriction. NewsWorks Tonight host Dave Heller spoke with Lesniak last week about the Union County senator’s support for legalized sports betting.
