Christie and wife earned less in 2010

A tax return filed by N.J. Gov. Chris Christie and wife Mary Pat shows a smaller 2010 income than the couple brought in in 2009.

The return released Tuesday shows the pair earned $449,607 in 2010, down from $544,047 in 2009. Why?

The Associated Press reports the dip is likely due to Mary Pat’s smaller income from Cantor Fitzgerald on Wall Street. Her $260,000 salary is almost half what it was in 2009. Here are a few other details from the return:

income from taxable interest fell to $6,875
earnings from capital gains increased to $8,116
the family gave $22,496 in charitable gifts
