Children’s bike parade kicks off Chestnut Hill’s July 4th celebration

Chestnut Hill knows how to run a Fourth of July parade. When you let the neighborhood kids decorate their bikes in red, white and blue and let them parade down East Hartwell Lane you’ve once again proven that Philadelphia is truly a city of neighborhoods. When you see these photos it’s easy to forget that you’re in the nation’s sixth largest city.

The parade began at the Bocce Club at 118 East Hartwell Lane and ended near the Water Tower Recreation Center. Then it was a day full of races, pony rides and face painting. This July 4th, 2011 was the 95th year for the Chestnut Hill parade and festival.
