I-95 reopens after chemical leak from truck Friday

Drivers Friday afternoon experienced delays along I-95 around Route 420 in both directions for a tanker leaking chemicals.

According to the Daily Times out of Delaware County, the chemical leak was reported around 4:45 p.m. Friday afternoon when a Pennsylvania State Police Trooper pulled over the truck at the Tinicum exit.

The lanes in both directions were reopened later Friday night, according to Fox 29.

According to reports, the tanker was leaking for several minutes after it was pulled over.

The truck, which was headed for St. Louis, was carrying 44,000 pounds of acetic anhydride, according to the Daily Times.  The Daily Times says the chemical is used for the coating of photographic film and can be corrosive and noxious.
