Charges filed against tug operator for role in duck boat crash

Matthew Devlin has been charged with one count of “misconduct of a ship operator causing death, in relation to the ‘Duck boat’ accident.”

Devlin, of New York, is expected to plead guilty for his role in last summer’s fatal Ride the Ducks crash on the Delaware River. Lizz Fiedler was present when the charges were announce and the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Devlin faces 37 to 46 months in prison.

Devlin is accused of spending “an extended period of time prior to the collision…distracted by his use of a cell phone and laptop computer to attend to personal matters.”

Lizz will have the full story later.
