Changes to criminal background checks for patient care jobs

State Police and health department officials are meeting today in Newark to work on a new design for criminal background checks for jobs involving direct patient care.
Delaware is one of six states to take part in a $3 million federal grant to design a new background check program. The new checks will be conducted on people applying for jobs in nursing facilities, long-term care hospitals, home health agencies, hospice care providers and more.
