A change at the top of Planning Commission

Deputy Mayor Alan Greenberger today stepped down from his position as executive director of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission.

Greenberger has been in charge of both the PCPC and the Commerce Department, in addition to overseeing all the city’s development related departments as deputy mayor, and it was just too much, he said. So Monday, he followed the mayor’s request, made when Nutter made his deputy mayor status permanent.

Greenberger is now a planning commisionerrepresenting commerce, and the board promptly elected him chairman.

Planning’s new executive director is no stranger to the job. Gary Jastrzab had served as acting director before Greenberger was named, and he has long been the deputy director.
