Celebrate International Pillow Fight Day 2012, at Washington Square Park

Whether it’s thick or thin, lumpy or foam, standard or king, everyone’s got one. And today, Saturday, April 7, pillows will make a daytime debut during this year’s International Pillow Fight Day.

Here in Philadelphia, pillow-wielding participants are welcomed to join in the action. The free event begins at 3 p.m., and will be held at 6th and Locust Streets in Washington Square Park.

Urban Playground, a local company founded by Drexel business student, Ari Melman, is organizing the event.

There will be a separate pillow fight for kids 14 and under. And those who attend are encouraged to dress in blue, yellow, red or green, in order to split the group into teams. Bonus points will be given to those in costume.

Here are a few of the rules:

Bring a soft pillow with a clean cover, sans feathers if possible.

No foreign objects in the cases: pillows only.

Be discrete prior to the event and keep all pillows secured.

Only hit others who also have a pillow.

Please, no beanbag chairs or body pillows.

The epic battle ensues at 3 p.m.
