Castro still on bail despite effort to jail him early

Former Philadelphia Police Inspector Daniel Castro remains free on bail until next month, despite a prosecutor’s efforts to put him behind bars early.

Castro will report to prison Nov. 15 to serve the five-year term he received for his role in an extortion plot, though the prosecution wanted him jailed sooner for comments Castro made after his last court appearance.

The Inquirer reports Castro found himself in more hot water after he held up photos of the victim of the extortion plot and the FBI informant and made angry comments about the pair.

Castro’s attorney argued the former inspector was not out to intimidate anyone with his remarks, but will refrain from doing so again.
