Casey announces millions more in funding for SEPTA

U.S. Senator Bob Casey announced this morning $6.44 million in funding for two SEPTA projects. The funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation comes just a month after a $20 million grant to improve a Strawberry Mansion facility and replace old vehicles.

Two separate grants — at $5 million and $1.44 million — will replace diesel buses with hybrids and add energy storage devices to the Market-Frankford Line. Both projects are part of two U.S. DOT programs.

Last month, Casey announced $5 million for improvements at the 33rd and Dauphin bus facility and $15 million for vehicle replacements.
