Carillon Concert June 24

Janet Tebbel, carilloneur at First United Methodist Church of Germantown, 6001 Germantown Avenue, will offer an hour of well-known music from popular films and artists such as Adele, Stevie Wonder and Queen on Monday, June 24, 7:30 p.m. The carillon is a 50-bell instrument played from a mechanical keyboard high in the tower. The largest bell is 3 1/2 tons, the smallest 12 lbs. There will be a tour of the tower offered after the recital. Climb the 70 stair steps to see the bells and the playing cabin. You may touch the bells; there are 4 that are larger than the Liberty Bell! The best listening location is the garden of Wyck, across Germantown Ave. from the church. A freewill offering will be received to help support the program.
