Cardinal Rigali presides over last Sunday mass

After a tumultuous tenure marked by recent revelations of sex abuse scandals, Archbishop of Philadelphia Justin Rigali will preside over his last mass as the area’s Catholic leader.

The Associated Press reports Rigali’s replacement, Denver’s former Archbishop, Charles Chaput, will take over for Rigali this Thursday.

Rigali announced he would no longer serve as leader of the Philadelphia Archdiosese earlier this summer. He has been Archbishop since 2003.
