Candidates rush to respond to flurry of attack ads

A flurry of new TV ads is airing in Pennsylvania’s campaign for governor, and candidates are scrambling to counter attacks.

A TV ad from Democrat Tom Wolf issued Saturday insists that his family company, the Wolf Organization, pays taxes in Pennsylvania.

That’s a response to a Corbett campaign ad issued last week that suggests Wolf’s company incorporated in Delaware to take advantage of its lower corporate income tax rate and avoid paying Pennsylvania taxes.

The Wolf campaign says it won’t provide proof of the company’s tax payments.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley says a TV ad by a coalition of the Democratic Governors Association and labor unions is lying about cuts in education aid under Corbett, and he’s urging Wolf to take it down.
