No mention of McCord’s stepdad on Pa. candidate’s website

Pennsylvania Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rob McCord is responding to criticism from his own family as his stepbrother questions the candidate’s official biography,

In a letter to pennlive.com, Daniel Silver wrote that McCord has obscured the fact his biological mother married Silver’s dad when McCord was still a child.

McCord’s official biography on his website makes no mention of his stepfather, saying he was raised by a single mother.

Speaking Monday on WITF’s “Smart Talk,” McCord, who is the state’s treasurer, said he’s not trying to change his story to fit a narrative.

“Part of what’s sad for me about this is that I’ve spoken glowingly about my stepfather hundreds upon hundreds of times,” he said. “I’ve talked about how I knew the difference between financial security and financial insecurity in part because of what happened,”

McCord never explicitly addressed why his biography does not mention his stepfather. His campaign previously pointed to other appearances though when he did mention his stepfather, including an interview with the PennLive editorial board.

The interview on “Smart Talk” also covered McCord’s proposed tax on natural gas drilling, its impact on the economy, and education funding.
