Camden will be getting network of security cameras

New Jersey’s most dangerous city may soon get its first network of security cameras.

According to the Associated Press, Camden officials say a Virginia-based firm has been hired to install and maintain the “Eye in the Sky” system. The $1.8 million project will be mostly funded through prior commitments included in state and federal grants.

Company officials say it will take about two months to install the first group of cameras, but city officials haven’t yet disclosed where they will be placed.

Police officers will be able to view and control cameras from both their in-car computers and at police headquarters.
