Camden mayor: Don’t turn on fire hydrants

Camden Mayor Dana Redd and the city’s fire, police and public works departments have a reminder for residents for the hot holiday weekend:

“Opening/turning on fire hydrants is illegal and jeopardizes public safety because it lowers water pressure which can impede on the fire departments ability to fight fires.  Residents are encouraged to report any open/turned on fire hydrants to the Camden Police Department at 856-757-7482 or to United Water (Emergency Number) at 856-488-2041.”

What are the odds that message turns out to be counterproductive?
