Callista Gingrich to visit Delaware elementary school

Following up on her husband’s visit to Wilmington last month, Callista Gingrich will make an appearance at Warner Elementary School Tuesday afternoon.

Mrs. Gingrich will read her new children’s book “Sweet Land of Liberty” to first grade students at Warner Elementary and then take a tour of the building, including the school’s new Student-Parent Community Center.

Gingrich’s presidential candidate husband Newt was in Delaware last Monday for a fundraiser in downtown Wilmington and a meeting with Republicans in Hockessin.  Following his visit, the campaign announced plans to let go some staffers as the former House Speaker restructured his operation.  .

During that visit, Gingrich told WHYY’s Shirley Min that he was optimistic about his party’s chances in Delaware.  “I think there are a lot of folks, who for different reasons, may this year decide to take Delaware into the Republican column.”  Also during his visit, he pledged to return to Delaware before the state’s Presidential primary on April 24.
