Burglar poses as plumber in Lawncrest theft

Police in the 2nd District are warning residents of a burglary that was just reported involving a thief who posed as a plumber in Lawncrest.

From Lt. Thomas Maccartney: “On 02/05/03 the complainant that at approx 1:00pm while inside her residence she answered a knocked at her door at the offender#1 informed her that he was a plumber working next door and was checking water to ascertain if it was clean while inside a short time the offender#2 entered residence and distracted complainant while she went upstairs and took assorted jewelry from the front bedroom both fled on foot in an unknown direction. Scene was processed by the assigned and evidence collected, neighborhood interviews conducted. Investigation is continuing.” The first offender was a white male in his 20s wearing a red flannel shirt. The second offender was a white female in her 20s wearing a multicolor trench coat. The victim is a 72-year-old woman.
