Bridgeton skatepark closes for good after futile upkeep efforts

Bridgeton’s year-old skatepark has closed for good and its obstacles up for sale on Craigslist despite efforts to keep the much-anticipated park open.

Hefty costs, a lack of volunteers and restrictions from the city proved too much to keep open the park its users worked nine years to get, the News of Cumberland County reports.

The city required the park to enlist volunteers to keep watch during operating hours, but when help fell short, the park remain closed and therefore not a viable option for advertisers who want eyes on their billboards.

Bridgeton will re-evaluate the space to determine how it can better serve the public, but no formal plans are in place.
