Residents near Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst may hear loud booms emanating from explosions at the military installation this afternoon.

That’s because technicians will be undertaking controlled detonations on the Lakehurst portion of the base to destroy 19 dummy rounds found near the installation, according to a Joint Base release.

Those near the Lakehurst side are most likely to hear to explosions, which will occur between noon and 4:00 p.m., the release said.

Anyone with questions or concerns is asked to call the Joint Base Public Affairs Office at (609) 754-2104.
