An investigation is underway after a body was found on an Atlantic City beach Thursday evening.

Police tell CBS Philly that the body was found near the former Revel casino, now known as TEN. An investigation into the person’s identity and cause of death is underway.

It’s not known if the body is that of a swimmer who reportedly entered the ocean near the city’s Steel Pier around 10 p.m. Tuesday and didn’t return to land.

The U.S. Coast Guard searched the area by sea and air but ultimately suspended the mission just before sunset on Wednesday.

The discovery in Atlantic City is the third body found on Jersey Shore beaches since Sunday. In Monmouth County’s Sea Bright, the body of an unidentified woman came ashore Sunday afternoon.

Then hours later in Ocean County’s Ocean Beach 2, an off-duty lifeguard walking along the shoreline discovered the body of a 24-year-old woman who vanished in the ocean during an early morning swim on Sunday.
