Boat owners step up to help fight pollution along Jersey Shore

A small group of boat owners have stepped up in the battle against pollution along the Jersey Shore.

According to The Star-Ledger, the group of five captains goes out daily to collect water samples that are to be tested by the state’s Department of Environmental Protection.

The boaters take to the waters year-around, rain or shine.

The Star-Ledger reports the samples allow the DEP to know exactly what is floating in the water just off the shore.
