Boardwalk outside the Aquatic Resources Education Center in Smyrna needs a fresh coat of paint

No plans for Saturday? The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control — the same group that needed volunteers for waste anc acorn collections — is looking for more volunteers to help paint the boardwalk at the Aquatic Resources Education Center in Smyrna.

There will be two shifts available. The first will be from 9 a.m. to noon and the second from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Participating in both shifts will result in a free lunch.

The AREC serves school groups, youth groups and adults with environmental eduction programs that rely on the 940-foot boardwalk for access to the marsh behind the center, which needs a fresh coat of sealant.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old or older and are advised to wear old clothing and shoes.
