Black sea bass season starts in Del. on Jan. 1

Recreational fishermen will be permitted to harvest black sea bass from Delaware’s coastal waters starting on Jan. 1.

State officials say the new black sea bass season follows a vote earlier this month by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission.

The season will run from Jan. 1-Feb. 28, with a daily bag limit of 15 fish. They must be at least 12.5 inches long.

Anglers can also hook black sea bass in federal waters in January and February. Federal waters begin 3 miles from the Delaware shore.
