Best of the best: Geek Awards honor local greatest geeks

It wasn’t the Academy Awards or The Tony’s, but in Philadelphia Friday night, it was some of the biggest geeks who walked a little taller during the Philadelphia Geek Awards.

The event, which recognized local tops geeks, was held for the first time Friday.

Refered to by organizers as the equivalent of the Daytime Emmy of the Webby Awards, the Philadelphia Geek Awards recognized local geeks for everything from Best New Podcast to a category that recognized outstanding achievement in appealing to geeks in local arts and culture.

Among last night’s winners, “Indie God of War/Zelda 87” earned Best Local Viral Vid honors, while Tony Trov and Johnny Zito were awarded Outstanding Achievement of Local Comic Art.
