Believe it, or not: Squirrel to blame for commuter delays
Earlier this month on Oct. 4, the northeast corridor had some substantial difficulties during the evening commute. Nearly 100 NJ Transit trains and 30 Amtrak trains were affected. The trains were either delayed or cancelled, reports NJ.com, and it was all because of a squirrel that tripped an electrical transformer.
“While thousands of commuters cursed the fates and blamed aging infrastructure… the real culprit was a squirrel that came into contact with a circuit-breaker, Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole told The Record of Woodland Park.”
It’s not the first time that squirrels were to blame for commuter delays. Apparently a similar situation happened in May, as well.
There’s been no word on the health of either of the squirrels.
