Beach town marks summer’s end with jazz funeral

The resort town of Bethany Beach is marking the traditional death of summer in swinging style.

The annual Bethany Beach Jazz Funeral starts Monday evening at the north end of the town’s boardwalk.

The Jazz Funeral is 27-year-old family-friendly tradition marked by music and mourners wearing sometimes outrageous costumes accompanying a casket with a mannequin representing summer to its final resting place at the boardwalk bandstand.
