Eastern State Penitentiary is hosting the 19th annual Bastille Day Festival this Saturday, July 13, honoring the anniversary of the turning point of the French Revolution.
The festival will include a performance by the caberat troupe, The Bearded Ladies, along with many other activities, including:
appearances by Napoleon, Joan of Arc, Benjamin Franklin, a life-size French Baguette, and others
a mock storming of the Bastille
and 3,000 Tastycakes being thrown over the towers (a nod to Marie Antoinette’s “Let them eat cake!”)
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 at the Eastern State Penitentiary, 2020 Fairmount Avenue. Standard admission is free but you can buy VIP tickets, which includes front-row seats and early admission, here.
