Basketball star’s brother among six killed in Philly in single day

A spokesman for the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team says the brother of player Dion Waiters was one of the victims during a bloody day on the streets of Philadelphia.

Police said 21-year-old Demetrius Pinckney was found dead of severe head injuries in a South Philadelphia neighborhood.

Police were responding to a report of gunshots shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Officials say the violence started during an argument followed by a dirt bike chase.

A 20-year-old man was last listed in critical condition in the same shooting with gunshot wounds to his thigh and buttocks. He has not yet been identified.

Four more men were killed in separate shootings. A fifth was killed in a random stabbing.

Police are investigating.
