Basketball court shooting kills 23-year-old

Wilmington Police say the 23-year-old victim was playing basketball Monday night, when an unknown suspect began shooting at him.

When officers arrived at the courts in the 200 block of N. Jackson Street, they discovered Jamar Brown, of Wilmington, lying in the grass next to the courts. Brown was shot multiple times in the abdomen and wrist, according to police. He was taken to Christiana Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about five hours later.

The investigation continues into the identification of the shooter. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Patrick Conner at (302) 576-3630.
