Bar owner questions whereabouts of money seized by Upper Darby police
When Upper Darby police went to retrieve $8,000 from an evidence locker in May, the money was gone.
Superintendent Michael Chitwood told the Delaware County Daily Times then the money, seized from a home in November 2009, could have mistakenly been burned along with other evidence.
That’s not the answer Robert Herdelin wanted or believed, so he challenged Chitwood to a polygraph yesterday. Herdelin, owner of Upper Darby’s Cheers Bar, stood outside the station yesterday with his own $8,000 demanding the department find out where the money really went.
The Delco Times has video of Herdelin’s appearance yesterday, which Chitwood missed for a homicide investigation — though he had no intentions of going in the first place.
The department and the District Attorney’s office began investigating the case in May.
