Backed up drain has police districe battling a mold problem

Among the officers, uniforms and records you’ll find at Philadelphia’s 39th Police District, there’s something else lurking: mold.

Not an uncommon problem in old department buildings, mold seems to be doing some damage at the 39th, where an officer took pictures of moldy uniforms in the locker room and sent them to Fox29.

City inspectors say they’ve found the problem — a drain that backs up when rain soaks through the district’s basement walls — and are working on fixing it. Fox also says a city inspector has advised anyone in uniform dealing with mold to wear a respirator.
