Awards of Valor honor local police and firefighters tonight

    Police and firefighters from around the region tonight will gather at the National Liberty Museum in Old City for their “outstanding courage in the line of duty.”

    From combat to car crashes, school violence and other scarios, police, fire and correctional officers from Philadelphia-area will receive awards tonight.

    Twenty Philadelphia Police officers will be honored, in addition to eight Philadelphia firefighters and others from New Jersey, Delaware and the Southeastern Pennsylvania suburbs.

    From Philadelphia, two officers and one firefighter will be honored as individuals, and the rest for their team efforts. New Jersey state troopers and officers and firefighters from Montgomery, Delaware and Chester counties will receive awards, as will two Philadelphia corrections officers.
