Autism Speaks Walk moves out of Dorney Park over outcry

An autism fundraising and awareness walk is moving out of a Pennsylvania amusement park over its treatment of an employee with special needs.

Jose Dell’Aglio of the Lehigh Valley Autism Speaks Walk tells The (Allentown) Morning Call that families didn’t want to use Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom after hearing about Chris Emery’s attempt to return to his job there for a 13th season.

A change in the hiring process forced Emery to interview for his job in a group setting, and he didn’t pass. The company has since offered to rehire him, but Emery’s mother has said she doesn’t want him to return because of how he was treated.

The Philadelphia Police Union announced last month it wouldn’t hold its picnic there this year for the same reason.
