Authorities seize $350,000 worth of counterfeit Winter Classic merchandise

The Winter Classic drew lots of attention to Philadelphia as the Flyers battled the Rangers in a game of outdoor hockey to kick off the new year.

But international attention for the game began much earlier, taking shape in the form of counterfeit merchandise.
The Business Journal reports the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations seized $350,000 worth of the stuff from 150 international mail parcels and nine vendors — all before the new year.

Wondering if you got the real deal? The authentic merchandise has a hologram sticker or holographic hangtag and a sewn-in or screen-printed neck label indicating a licensee that has been authorized by the NHL to produce the merchandise.
