Christie, State Republican Committee will pay for personal chopper use

Update: Christie and the State Republican Committee will reimburse the state for all personal use of the helicopter, the Associated Press reports. The total comes to about $3,100.

Original report: New Jersey’s Assembly Homeland Security Committee will convene a hearing to review the use of Gov. Chris Christie’s use of the state helicopter to attend his son’s baseball game.

Yes, we’re still talking about this.

Christie and his wife used the chopper to make it to their son’s game before leaving in the 5th inning so Christie could catch a meeting with Iowa GOP members. Democrats and Christie opponents have criticized the use of the helicopter in this manner, and it looks like things are coming to a head.

Assemblywoman Annette Quijano told the Associated Press she’s got concerns about personal use of the chopper, which is intended for port and airport security and emergencies.
