As DNC nears, excessive heat settles in

Hot and humid weather has settled over Philadelphia as delegates begin arriving for the Democratic National Convention.

Officials are warning residents and visitors to take precautions.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning through Monday, the first day of the convention. Meteorologists warn the heat index would be in the 100s, the heat wave’s peak day. Temperatures will still be in the 90s most of the week.

Philadelphia is assigning medics to take part in marches and plan to open two medic tents and two “missing” tents for convention demonstrators. Bottled water will be distributed.
