Arrest made in June 2010 fatal crash

Seven months later, the Newark Police Department arrested 19-year-old Wesley Creek in connection with last June’s fatal three-car crash on Papermill Road at Louviers Drive.

Police say Creek was driving the white Jeep Wrangler that t-boned a black Honda, driven by 53-year-old Marcella Scally.

Scally, of Newark, was pronounced dead at the scene.

41-year-old Meredith Taggart of New Castle was a passenger in the Honda; She suffered head injuries.

Police say the initial crash pushed the Honda into the third vehicle, which was stopped for a red light at the intersection in the southbound lanes.

That driver, according to police, suffered minor injuries.

Creek faces operation of a motor vehicle causing death, disregarding a red light and inattentive driving charges.

Police arrested Creek Tuesday; He appeared before a judge and was released on bail.

When asked what took so long, Newark Police said the course of the investigation required the seven months.
