Arrest made in Chestnut Hill bank robbery

Philadelphia police say the man who robbed the Sovereign Bank in Chestnut Hill yesterday morning is in custody. Police spokeswoman Christine O’Brien says Ronald Johnson, 42, was arrested just over an hour after he fled the bank.

Police caught up with the suspect at his home on the 2400 block of Patane Avenue in Roslyn, Montgomery County.

Police say Johnson robbed the Chestnut Hill branch at 8623 Germantown Ave. of $4,000 after presenting a demand note. No one was injured during the robbery.
