Opening Reception: George Martz: ‘Landscapes of the Mind: A Glimpse of Reality’, April 4th

Based on real places, George’s paintings are transformed by his imagination and from inspiration he finds “between his ears”. George portrays stunning horizons developed in subdued colors with airy clouds and striking reflections of light. His most recent work includes larger scale canvases. Before retiring, George taught art at Tower Hill School for 27 years and still teaches a volunteer art class at the Methodist Country House in Greenville. The Station Gallery.

 

South Asia Festival: India & Pakistan, April 6th

Experience the rich cultures of India and Pakistan with traditional South Asian performances and activities! This festival includes North Indian music by sitar player Allyn Mine and tabla player Sudev Sheth, South Asian Classical and Bollywood dance performances by the Jhankaar Bollywood Dance Troupe, and a South Asian fashion show hosted by Dr. Juhi Jagiasi. Additional activities include art projects, henna art, calligraphy demonstrations, and a display of Pakistani carpets and South Asian-themed artwork created by Delaware high school students. Mini-Masters: Crayon Etchings, April 9th

Learn about the silver that was made during Caesar Rodney’s lifetime By scratching designs into layers of crayon colors on paper, participants will reveal their very own colorful etchings. Biggs Museum of American Art.

 

   

Dixieland Music for the Kent County Library, April 10th

American Art Colonies, the Early Years, April 5th & 9th

Steve Goode will give two lectures on art colonies “Surrounded by Beauty: American Art Colonies, the Early Years.” The talks are general in nature, but will zero in on two colonies: Woodstock, NY and Taos, NM. Milton Historical Society.

 

Clear Space Theatre presents: Xanadu, April 11th – 13th

Presented by the Clear Space Children’s Theatre, this hysterical musical adventure about following your dreams rolls along with songs, including “Magic”, “All Over the World”, “Suddenly”, “Evil Woman”, and “Xanadu”. This JR production is hilarity on roller skates for children, adults, and anyone who ever wanted to follow their dreams. Clear Space Theater.
