Another Republican enters Delaware's U.S. Senate race
Republican Christine O’Donnell will officially announce her candidacy for U.S Senate on Wednesday.
Republican Christine O’Donnell will officially announce her candidacy for U.S. Senate in Newark Wednesday. Her announcement will force a September primary against fellow Republican Mike Castle.
O’Donnell ran for the same Senate seat two years ago against Joe Biden. Biden beat O’Donnell 65% to 35% while at the same time being elected Vice President. Biden vacated his Senate to become VP, creating the need for a special election to permanently fill the final four years of his term.
According to a press release announcing her candidacy, O’Donnell plans to highlight the “larger drama unfolding between establishment Washington incumbents and their grassroots challengers.”
New Castle County Chris Coons is running on the Democratic side.
