Anglers find body in Mullica River

New Jersey state troopers recovered a body from the Mullica River today, authorities said.

Two anglers found the unidentified body shortly before 11:00 a.m., according to a release from the New Jersey State Police.

The body was discovered near Hog Islands in Washington Township in Burlington County, the release said. It was removed from the water a short time later by a state police marine unit crew.

But it’s not clear what caused the person’s death or how she or he ended up in the waterway.
