Ah, the Jersey Shore: What does it mean to you?

    The Jersey Shore means so many things to so many people — family gatherings, fishing, boating, gambling and sometimes a much needed escape from the city.

    Island Beach State Park, a pristine barrier island, illustrates what the shore looked like before development. It has nearly 10 miles of sandy beach and protects the natural shore line and its habitats.

    Barnegat Bay is a naturally protected marine playground, but it is not without issues much like other areas along the Jersey Shore.

    Lately, plagues of jellyfish have made swimming impossible. Pollution’s effects on the marine environment along with sustainability continue to be issues.
