Activist Angela Davis to give keynote at conference on societal movements

Probably best know for her activism around civil rights and the Black Panther Party, Angela Davis will be at UPenn tonight to deliver the keynote address at the International Herbert Marcuse Society conference, which looks at societal norms and their alternatives.

Davis’s current cause is Critical Resistance, a move to stop the practice of using prisons and policing to address societal problems. She’ll be at Penn through sponsors Bread & Roses and the Media Mobilizing Project, which are meant to fund and highlight activists’ issues.

Davis makes her appearance at 6:30 p.m. Advanced resigistration is required.
