This month, the Independence Visitor Center has installed technology to help hearing-impaired people tour Independence Mall.

Staff members can now speak to those with cochlear implants via a portable loop system. Visitors also can download a guided tour as a sign-language smart-phone app.

There are many ways to experience historic Philadelphia without all five senses. Frederick Noessner is a blind actor with Historic Philadelphia who portrays an 18th century Colonial character. He explains how to navigate Independence Mall through its sound.
